Home delivery HELPS prevent DUI's because we drink at home. That is the reason for home delivery.
I am a disabled old veteran in ill health with 3 eye operations and do not want to drive to buy beer. Light beer helps with my constant pain (rather than opioids), is a legal product, and one of my few remaining comforts. I NEVER drink and drive. No, I have no living family members who could drive and deliver my beer for me. No one. I want the freedom of home delivery. Just like in the other 31 states. (Walmart+ delivery is FREE for my large home delivery orders.)
This is a liberty issue. In the "land of the free" there is no reason why any legal product cannot be delivered to our homes. I dug foxholes with an e-tool and put my life on the line for this country and fellow New Mexico citizens. "Thank you for your service" should include the liberty to have any legal product delivered to my home. Period. Government has no business in interfering with this legal commerce.
At nearly 70 years old, I am NOT responsible for the tiny few in our population who may be "abusers" or delinquents or Failed Parents. You know, I had an Army combat platoon of 40 men. When ONE of them screwed up -- (as they did sometimes) -- I did not punish ALL 40 of them for the irresponsible behavior of that ONE man. That is on the ONE who misbehaved. Go after THEM if they break the law. Hold THEM accountable. Do not punish ME, a responsible beer drinker and an old, dying veteran who loves liberty (that I fought and sacrificed for).
Why does the New Mexico Legislature think it needs to punish ALL of us for the tiny few who "might" be irresponsible?! Even if we are a dying old veteran who only drinks at home?! It's a LIBERTY issue.
Please phone and tell your New Mexico state senator and representative that you support the LIBERTY of home beer delivery. 31 other states already enjoy this common sense liberty. Why not New Mexicans, too?
