Made to order for me to replace a smaller instrument lost in a wild fire, but by the time it was completed I had moved to a house that was too small to keep the instrument set up. Although I keep it tuned, I rarely play it and have no reason to hang on to it other than its beauty and excellent tone.
This is the D650 model made by Dusty Strings in Seattle, the super-sized 4.5 octave that is roughly twice the size of common hammered dulcimers. It includes the optional damper mechanism which is rarely found on dulcimers. I am selling it 'complete' with hammers, tuner, the original adjustable legs plus a more practical adjustable wood frame, a custom music stand that clamps on the top/back, and owner's guidebook.
It would be a natural to list on Reverb, but it is too large to ship. Given the limited local market, I am offering it for less than half of its retail plus options price. Visit the Dusty Strings website to explore this instrument.
