2000 Tohatsu 50 TLDI

I crated this motor for storage in 2021 and test ran it at the time. It ran beautifully - no problems at all, so it went into storage while I moved to another state.

I returned last year and checked out the motor, but someone had gotten into the storage locker and stole the controller....along with a lot of other things. OK, no problem, just one controller listed for all models/years, so I found one on eBay and bought it.

Most of the wiring matched and I got the instruments all connected and all but one measly little wire in the bundles to the motor. One lonesome little red wire with yellow stripe in the powerhead has no match and the wiring diagram is no help.

The motor cranks fine but has no spark and no fuel....and, as I said, it ran perfectly when I crated it up. I've tried some cures with no joy, but I'm very wary of just connecting wires to a computer controlled motor. If it were an old points and condenser motor, I'd be fine, but I'm simply not familiar enuf with these newer motors to take a chance.

If I could get it running, I'd be asking $2,000, but since it's not running I'll sell it for $800, as is/where is in Silver City, NM.

If necessary, I could deliver it to Elephant Butte or Las Cruces for $100 extra or to Tucson for $200.

I also have 2 extra props for it, but no gas tank.

If you're good with motors you could come up with a very nice, very cheap motor for a mid-sized boat - it pushed my 16 ft CC skiff to 34 mph and it only has about 800 hours on it. Or....you could get it runnning, sell it, and make a nice chunk of change for very little work.
